My name is Kara.
I am a Mixed-Media Artist, Licensed Counselor, and Board-Certified Art Therapist.
Ultimately, all of my work is about helping people be more creative, use their creativity for personal growth, and incorporate their creativity into their daily lives. (Because creative expression is transformative; choosing creativity is courageous; and bravery can change the world.)
I experienced the power of creative expression first hand while working in the art studio as an undergraduate student. While attempting to overcome overwhelming feelings of grief, I discovered I could express things with paint, collage, and images that I could not express verbally. Hopelessness transformed into resilience, and I was hooked. I understood the importance of creativity to my well-being. It was then that I knew it was my calling to help others achieve a similar sense of wellness using the creative process.
Brene Brown said it best: “The only unique contribution that we will ever make in this world will be born of our creativity.” Let’s listen to that voice urging us to explore the healing powers of our creativity. (Yes, we are all creative!) Beyond our comfort zone lies reflection, discovery, wisdom, and healing.
